About the event
- There’s a great story in the Bible from Mark 4. Jesus was out in the middle of a lake with his friends and, “Gale-force winds arose, and waves crashed against the boat so that the boat was swamped. But Jesus was in the rear of the boat, sleeping on a pillow. They woke him up and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are drowning?” Don’t you care that we are drowning? That desperate cry is an incredible prayer. Maybe it doesn’t sound much like a prayer to you. It’s nothing like the prayers many of us prayed in Sunday School or in a lifetime of going to church. It’s not how Pastors learn to pray in seminary. But if prayer is an open conversation with God, then “Don’t you care that we are drowning?” is exactly the kind of prayer Jesus invites us to pray when we’re struggling.
- Join us for an evening of songs and stories and prayers reflecting on the kind of raw, honest prayers we pray when we are weighed down by grief. All participants will receive a free copy of Brian’s book “Don’t You Care That We Are Drowning? (And other unexpected prayers)”.
